Course Information

Course Objectivs

The main goal of the course is to provide the basic concepts of Combinatorics, Probability and Statistics.

It is intended that students identify applications of the subjects in life situations as well as, become able to apply some of these concepts in their professional lives. It is expected also a cognitive development, which includes capabilities for reflection, analysis and discussion. It is expected that students develop greater critical reasoning, as well as, acquiring ability of mastering mathematics, interpret it and use it with scientific rigor.

We also aim to promote analysis and discussion of problems.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Normal season

There are two tests, each worth 20 values. The final grade is calculated as follows: Final Grade = 0,5 * ( test 1 ) + 0,5 * (test 2 ) .

Gets approval the student whose final grade is greater than or equal to 9,5.

  • Recurso

For the sudents that don?t approve in normal season, there is another season (called ?recurso?).  In this season it can be recovered either one of the two tests or made an exam with a 100 % of the final evaluation.

If the student chooses to perform only one of the tests, the grade obtained in that test replaces the corresponding grade of that part carried out in the normal season. In this case, the final grade will be calculated as in the normal season.

Gets approval, the student that has final grade greater than or equal to 9,5.
