Course Information

Course Objectivs

1 To obtain knowledge on the main networking concepts, technologies, equipment, wiring systems and architectures, for communication between computers.

2 Provide students with planning and project skills, required for the design, implementation and operation of computer networks.

Evaluation Criteria

Classification Type: Quantitative (0-20)
Evaluation Methodology: Teaching methodologies: - Lectures; - Solving problems; - Practical work in laboratory, using network simulation tools or other network tools, configuring equipment, testing and constructing cables, etc. - Support to the development of the project, which consists in planning and dimensioning a network. - Seminars related with the project. Evaluation Criteria: - Exams, which aim at evaluating students? knowlwdge about the subjects covered in classes. - Project, with pre-defined deliverables. The project consists in planning and dimensioning a network, and aims at evaluating students? ability to apply the subjects covered in classes and the acquired knowledge. Evaluation: 2 tests: Topics covered in theoretical and practical classes; 70% of final grade; Mínimal grade: 8/20 in each test. Project: Planning and dimensioning a network; 30% of final grade; Groups composed by 3 students (maximum); Minimal grade: 8/20 in each delivery phase.
