Master’s Degree in Informatics Engineering

The cycle of studies of the master's Degree in Informatics Engineering is comprised of 4 semesters (2 academic years). Those who successfully obtain 120 ECTS are awarded the title.
This cycle of studies strives to ensure solid scientific and technological training, which contemplates and deepens the knowledge acquired during the undergraduate degree. Informatics Engineering is currently linked to all the essential areas of economic and social progress. As a collaborative and cross-disciplinary activity which requires cross-sectional skills in terms of management, technology, leadership and imagination, further studies or lifelong learning are essential.
Graduates will be able to: design, mould, develop, operate and maintain computer applications, information systems, computational architectures and data networks; deal with complexity and abstraction, and adapt easily to constant technological changes in the field.
In Portugal, this cycle of studies has been recognized (Notified by letter by the Directorate-general of school administration) for career progression purposes of the teaching staff of Basic Education, 3rd cycle Education and Secondary Education, for the recruitment group 550.

Graduates of this degree will be able to: carry out duties in banks, insurance companies, tourism, culture, entertainment; work on the planning, conception, production and maintenance of software and hardware systems; carry out duties in the area of central, regional and local public administration; become self-employed by resorting to government and community subsidies in place for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Candidates

This master’s degree is specially designed for all holders of an undergraduate degree in the field of Informatics Engineering or other related areas; holders of an international higher academic degree, recognized as meeting the objectives of an Undergraduate degree in the field of electrotechnical engineering; holders of a school, scientific or professional curriculum recognized by head of this cycle of studies, attesting to the ability to the conclusion of the degree.
