Deliberação número 1/1/2021 – Medidas COVID-19 – Ano letivo 2020/2021 – 2º semestre

Whereas:


i. The Management Council Resolution No. 1/18/2021 of 22 March 2021;

ii. The current situation at the University of Madeira, in which the premises are open and operating normally, apart from the timetable restrictions resulting from the current prohibitions of circulation on public roads, but in which the teaching activity is taking place in a predominantly non-face-to-face manner, although face-to-face academic activities such as written evaluations, traineeships, fieldwork, laboratory classes, research activities and other practices that required it were maintained;

iii. The evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (RAM)

iv. The resumption of face-to-face teaching at all non-higher education levels in the Autonomous Region of Madeira;

v. The general situation of higher education in the country;

vi. The recommendations to scientific and higher education institutions within the extraordinary measures of the state of emergency, issued by the Office of the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, on 11 March 2021;

vii. Rapid antigen testing for SARS-CoV-2 to students, today, 16 April, through the Regional Secretariat for Health and Civil Protection;

viii. The vaccination of teaching-staff, researchers and non-teaching staff of UMa and SASUMa, scheduled for April 20, at a time and place to be indicated, by email or other appropriate means, also through the Regional Secretariat for Health and Civil Protection.

After hearing the Presidents of the Organic Units, the Presidents of the Pedagogical, University and Polytechnic Councils, the President of the Committee for Prevention and Control of Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Rector and his management Team and the President of AAUMa, the following is determined:

1. The University premises will remain open, but the closing time will be 6.30 p.m. from Monday to Friday and 5.00 p.m. on Saturday, as long as the current road bans remain in place;

2. Prepare the return to face-to-face teaching activities, to begin on 3 May;

3. A new seating arrangement and distribution in classrooms, both at the Penteada Campus and at the Colégio dos Jesuítas;

4. Hallways on levels -2 and -1 will remain prepared for face-to-face evaluations;

5. It falls under the responsibility of the organic units, in conjunction with the Pedagogical, University and Polytechnic Councils, to propose to the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs the degrees/years/curricular units that do not fulfil the necessary conditions to resume face-to-face activities, taking into account the capacity of the available rooms, the academic calendars and their schedules;

6. Maintain the mandatory use of masks, the need to respect the rules of movement inside the buildings, duly signposted, and the absence of gatherings, as well as the cleaning and hygiene rules and other safety regulations in force for higher education;

The University will continue to operate according to its contingency plan, following the guidelines of the Health Authorities, and will adapt its procedures according to the evolution of the pandemic.

The University of Madeira thanks the Regional Secretariat for Health and Civil Protection for all the collaboration and support in providing means for the testing and vaccination of the Academic Community.
