Ethics Committee (CEUma)

The University of Madeira’s Ethics Commitee (“CEUma - Comissão de ética da Universidade da Madeira”) is an independent collegial body of advisory nature, whose mission is to promote and guarantee the compliance with the ethical and deontological principles of the overall functioning of the institution, especially when it comes to scientific research activities, technological development and innovation, training, and other activities that may occur.

Employment and Professional Training Observatory

The Employment and Vocational Training Observatory of UMa is a university advisory body that deals with the analysis and advice on the employment and training problems of UMa graduates. It tracks employment in quantitative and qualitative terms, taking into account the evolution of qualifications, in order to assess the sectoral and regional impacts as well as the effectiveness of UMa's internal policy instruments.

Tourism Project

Created in January 2015, the Tourism Project of the University of Madeira was born in order to become a key player in the development of research and innovation activities, as well as in the creation of advanced and postgraduate training programs in the areas of destination management and tourism companies.

The Center for Academic Development (CDA) is a project organized within a horizontal structure of services provided by the University of Madeira (UMa), whose mission is to improve academic skills in a logic of excellence in teaching and personal development of its teachers. The CDA develops professional training and updating of teachers' knowledge, promotes activities for training and personal development.

Culture Council

The culture council’s mission is to promote initiatives that encourage reflexion, discussing and giving visibility to new cultural, artistic and scientific realities in every type, form and aspect, not forgetting about the necessity to emphasise the needed interrelationships between theories and social, political, cultural, scientific, economical and religious practices that project them, transforming our understanding and our lives.

Pastoral Department

The Higher Education Pastoral Department’s mission is to provide an environment of reception, training, exchange and communal celebration of Christian faith. It offers a service of personal and spiritual accompaniment in the different situations and moments of life, from the experience of the different sacraments, experiences of mourning and frustrations, promoting the personal Christian commitment through a space of mission and volunteering.
