Subject: Drawing I

Scientific Area:

Visual Communication

Workload:

80 Hours

Number of ECTS:

8 ECTS

Language:

Portuguese

Overall objectives:

1 - The course has as primary goal to provide the necessary conditions for the acquisition and development of theoretical and practical skills, at basic level, in methodologies for graphical representation of spatial and essentially three-dimensional realities, centered on the human figure, both from a structural point of view and as regards the practical approach to techniques and rendering. According to this overall goal, an initial approach to the area of key theoretical and practical aspects is due, in view of delineating appropriate curriculum framework to the proposed actions, followed by an approach to conventional methods of generating spatial-geometric formal realities through projection systems, with a focus on rigorous conical on linear perspective system, and axonometric systems, aiming to establish a methodological foundation whose capabilities are well known.

Syllabus:

1 - Introduction to the field of graphic representation.
2 - Introduction to systematic approaches to the representation of the human figure.
3 - Practical approach to graphic representation of the human figure.
4 - Introduction to conventional geometric projection systems.

Assesssment methods and criteria:

Classification Type: Quantitativa (0-20)

Evaluation Methodology:
The theoretical and practical nature of the course provides an interleaved sequence of contact hours dedicated to the acquisition and exploration of specific contents and the development of theoretical skills - through a model that emphasizes inductive methodologies whenever feasible in terms of the assigned workload - and contact hours dedicated to the articulate exploration of a proposed range of practical applications for the acquired skills. Exploration activities of a practical nature adopt a system of successive fixed targets, assuming a set of clear requirements, previously defined. The evaluation system includes the following elements: Theoretical component (test), 30%; Theoretical-practical component, 70%: Practical test, 10% + 3 portfolios, 15% + 20% + 35%.
