Overall objectives:

1 - The main goal of the course is to provide the basic concepts of Combinatorics, Probability and Statistics. It is intended that students identify applications of the subjects in life situations as well as, become able to apply some of these concepts in their professional lives. It is expected also a cognitive development, which includes capabilities for reflection, analysis and discussion. It is expected that students develop greater critical reasoning, as well as, acquiring ability of mastering mathematics, interpret it and use it with scientific rigor. We also aim to promote analysis and discussion of problems.

Assesssment methods and criteria:

Classification Type: Quantitativa (0-20)

Evaluation Methodology:
The lectures include theoretical-pratical moments, dedicated to the introduction or synthesis of the studied subjects. The evaluation is continuous with emphasis on the formative aspect of the evaluation, which allows to integrate the student's practice into different moments and in response to the course's contents. In the normal evaluation season two test will be given, each with 20 values. The final grade of the course is calculated as follows: Final grade = 0.5 * (test 1) + 0.5 * (test 2). At the time of re-examination / grade improvement, either one of the two frequencies can be re-taken or an overall examination will be given with a weight of 100% in the final evaluation. If the student chooses to take only one of the tests, the grade obtained will replace the grade of the corresponding part of the test carried out in the normal time. To get approval in this course students need to have a final mark higher or equal to 9.5 values.
