Overall objectives:

1 - To care for sick and elderly people with affections of medical scope applying the fundamental principles of scientific methodology of work, in a hospital context and mobilizing theoretical and theoretical-practical contents capable of supporting the caring process.
2 - Caring for elderly and elderly people with diseases of the surgical scope, applying the fundamental principles of scientific methodology of work, in hospital context and mobilizing theoretical and theoretical-practical contents capable of supporting the caring process.
3 - To develop technical and relational skills in the practice of Nursing care to the person in situation of illness of the medical and surgical scope, in hospital context."

Syllabus:

1 - Providing global nursing care to the adult and elderly patients of the medical scope in the hospital context applying the nursing process as a scientific work methodology and integrating the technical, scientific, relational dimension and the values underlying the whole nursing intervention;
2 - Global nursing care provided to the adult and elderly patients of the surgical scope in a hospital context applying the nursing process as a scientific work methodology and integrating the technical, scientific, relational dimension and the values underlying the whole nurses intervention.

Evaluation Methodology:
"In compliance with the learning presuppositions inherent to the bologna process; by the objectives of the curricular unit and by the competences to be developed by students, the use of participatory and proactive teaching methodologies is privileged once they allow the student to mobilize knowledge, acquire technical and relational skills and develop critical-reflexive thinking. The student under guidance of nurses supervising the practice and supervision of the teacher, plans, executes and evaluates nursing interventions to the adult and elderly patient of the medical and surgical scope in medical and surgical hospital settings. Other methodologies used are porfolios, discussion of clinical cases, bibliographic reviews, research, orient study and reflections. Evaluation: model C of RAAAUMa: portfolio (25%); case study/nursing process (25%); clinical practice (50%) - continuous evaluation. No recovery in resourse/improvement or special season."
