Overall objectives:

1 - Establish a basis for understanding the language used in planning projects and works;
2 - Understand the timing of enterprise activities and construction works;
3 - Understand the structure of tasks, links between tasks, estimate of their duration;
4 - Develop and interpret work plans, equipment, labor and payments, using Microsoft Project;
5 - Production control and deadlines;
6 - Characterize the main forms of organization and management of construction companies;
7 - Analyse and highlight the importance of time management;
8 - Understand the work management systems, phases, actors and responsibilities, skills and duties;
9 - Understand the qualification of the technicians of the main players;
10 - Qualification system for the exercise of the construction activity civil and public works;
11 - Plan the construction, organization and implementation of the shipyard;
12 - Introduction to the public procurement code - Contract Formation Phase.

Syllabus:

1 - Projects and works: Terminology and definitions; Life stages of an enterprise; Enterprise management systems; Types of works; Phases of carrying out a work; Ways of carrying out a work;
2 - Stakeholders in carrying out a work; Competencies / duties of the main players; Qualification of the technicians of the main players; Liabilities transferable to others;
3 - Qualification system for the activity of civil construction and public works; Applicable regulations; Requirements for entry and permanence in the activity; Building permits and certificates; Categories and subcategories of works and works by public works contractors; Requirements for a given work; Prohibition and suspension of activity; Some characterization statistics for the construction sector in Portugal;
4 - Shipyard Organization: Main Equipment; Shipyard types, Planning and physical layout and shipyard organization;
5 - Construction Works Planning: Scheduling of projects and works; Definition of activities; Definition of the duration of activities; Definition of relations between activities; Preparation of work plans using Microsoft Project; Control and monitoring of deadlines;
6 - Introduction to the Code of public contracts - Phase Contract Formation. Types of Procedures; Parts of the procedures and general rules for the procurement of public works contracts and goods and services.
