Informative Note N.º 3.R.2020

In the light of the current national epidemiological situation and given the doubts that have arisen over the possible suspension of classes, we hereby inform you that classes are not suspended. The activities and timetables foreseen for the current academic year shall stand as planned. The exception is the Basic Cycle of Medicine, which will have to adjust its schedules and operation with those of the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon, as it is being prepared by the Follow-up Committee of the Basic Cycle of Medicine.

The University of Madeira will follow the situation closely, attentive to the recommendations and guidelines of the national and regional health authorities.
Curricular units that justify a different way of functioning, will be analysed by the Rectory and those responsible for the study cycles and units concerned, who will communicate to their students any changes.
If there is a need to change the normal functioning of the University, measures deemed appropriate in that context will be made public in due course.
With regard to the organisation of events, those involving the presence of people from outside the Region, or a very large number of participants, should be cancelled. In case of doubt, contact the Rectory.
As far as travel is concerned, it should only take place exceptionally. The guidelines already defined should be maintained. The IASAÚDE IP-RAM risk assessment questionnaire will be made available online at https://www.uma.pt/covid-19. Those who have to leave the Region must answer this questionnaire on their return. For any doubt, please send an email to covid-19@mail.uma.pt.
We recommend careful reading of UMa’s contingency Plan for Covid-19, already sent by e-mail to all members of the Institution and which can also be found at https://www.uma.pt/covid-19. This page will contain all the information on this subject.
We thank you for your collaboration and understanding.
