Biographical Notes

I am the daughter of Madeira parents born, but I was born in the city of Benguela, Angola, in 1971. My mother returned to Madeira Island in 1977, bringing her nine children, of which I am included. I practiced several sports in my childhood, but it was with basketball that I fell in love and practiced, since I was 8/9 years old, ending my career as a player already 30 years old. In this interval, I was part of the several regional teams of initiates and cadets, I was national champion of the II women's division by CAB, ascending for the first time to the main national event of women's basketball, the 1st national division. In 1990, I was sub-captain of the national U-19 women's team having reached my 1st internationalization and, with that, I ended up being the 1st international in Madeira basketball. I took the course of coaches of grade I and judges at the age of 15 and immediately started, simultaneously with the task of player, to be coach of training levels and to arbitrate games for a few years, until i entered college, FMH, to graduate in Physical Education and Sports. During the degree, I continued to play basketball at the Club Estrelas da Avenida, having won the SuperCup, Portuguese Cup and the Women's 1st Division Championship. After graduating, I returned to Madeira Island and continued to play for CAB and finished my "career" as a player, being a player and coach, of the CFU women's senior team competing in the 2nd women's division. I was invited in 1997 to be technical director of ABM, where I remained in the position for 7 years and, currently, I am Chairman of the Board of ABM. I have completed my Master's degree in Sport Psychology in 2007, also by FMH, and I have been collaborating with UMa since 2006 in the disciplines of the degree in EFD and master's degree in Teaching at EFD and I am also commissioner of CPCJ Funchal, of the enlarged committee, since 2016.
