Overall objectives:

1 - Acquire knowledge related to various methodologies and work processes in the context of contemporary artistic practice.
2 - Understand and interpret notions related to Contemporary Art.
3 - Understand and analyze the different creative processes of artists today.
4 - Actively participate in the debate on the various contemporary artistic phenomena.
5 - Autonomous research, revealing critical attitude towards the information available.

Syllabus:

1 - Art in the institutional sphere: typologies and models. The major transformation in the art spaces. Art and institutional critique. Art criticism. The role of the curator. Disclosing the artistic project. Resources about contemporary art.
2 - Concerning the method: philosophical and critical models. From Rationalism to the theory of deconstruction. Authors and concepts in the bibliographic research. Relationship with the major models in the field of art.
3 - Methodologies and work processes in artistic creation. From idea to project. Procedural steps. conceptual and formal strategies. The theoretical framework. Theme and context. Production and management of contemporary artistic practices. The integrated practices (multi and transdisciplinary models).

Assesssment methods and criteria:

Classification Type: Quantitativa (0-20)

Evaluation Methodology:
1. Expository and explanatory methods: By PowerPoint presentations (images, timelines, diagrams, schematics, etc.), texts, audiovisual materials and online resources. 2. Dialogical method: Through discussion of ideas and reasoning of various contents. 3. Active method: Based on research and independent student work, resulting in the presentation in class the themes developed in the Course. In order to complement the contents presented in class, students will be encouraged to undertake study visits to various artistic and cultural institutions, and will be organized sessions dedicated to specific themes with the presence of guests from various fields. EVALUATION: group work and individual research results in oral presentations (none of which will exceed 50%), through which the student should demonstrate the knowledge acquired during the semester and apply them in new contexts. Continuous assessment: participation in class and attendance (15%).
