Overall objectives:

1 - This subject consolidates a very basic knowledge of the German language (Level A1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) in the four basic skills: listening, reading, speaking and writing. The course books will be Ja, gerne, Linie 1 A1.2 and Menschen im Beruf Tourismus A1 (see Bibliography). Authentic complementary material from the field of Tourism will be made available to the student and worked on throughout the semester. In this subject, students will learn to manage everyday situations in German language and to understand and write simple spoken or written texts. The student will discover grammatical structures in a contrastive way and will pay attention to the language (language awareness). At the end of the semester, students will be able to:
1.1 - comprehend simple questions, information, telephone messages and brief dialogues in everyday and professional situations.
1.2 - extract relevant information from simple written texts
1.3 - write short texts.

Syllabus:

1 - Autonomous work from lessons 2-4 of Menschen im Beruf Tourismus A1, 8-12 of Ja, gerne and 11 of Linie 1 A 1.2, and under the guidance of the lecturer.
2 - - Thematic content: Biographical data; the months; the seasons; talking about cities, countries and languages; greeting customers and checking in; Berlin; asking for and giving directions; talking about a trip; writing postcards; talking about holidays; serving customers in a restaurant; food and drinks; recipes; different kinds of parties (birthday, cultural festival, wedding, etc.); invitations, etc.
3 - Grammar content: Verb tenses (Perfekt - also with separable verbs, imperative); the dative (as indirect complement and with prepositions which govern this case, personal pronouns in this case); Wechselpräpositionen; adjectives declined in the accusative; the melody of long sentences; pronunciation of the endings - e, -en, -el, -er...
4 - Supplementary work with authentic materials from the areas of Tourism, Culture and Communication.
5 - Preparation of the oral test

Classification Type: Quantitativa (0-20)

Evaluation Methodology:
Students work in class mostly in the following three variants: individual, with their partner and in groups. Students also will have to speak individually to the rest of the class when they will have to report on their work with their partner or group. Lessons will only be frontal when it is necessary to explain some linguistic aspect due to its complexity.The following is the UMa Student Learning Evaluation Policy (Model B) -80% compulsory class attendance -2 Written frequencies (each, 30%); 1 oral test (30%); attendance and participation (10%) In the Resit Period students with "normal" status (N) will be admitted who meet the conditions to recover or improve the test in which they obtained the lowest classification (30%). Students with student worker status (T) will be able to recover the two written tests and the oral test (90%) in the resit period. Other element of assessment - participation and attendance (10%) can neither be included nor improved in the appeal season.
