Overall objectives:

1 - Understand the principles of observation and physical examination.
2 - Understand the importance of meeting basic human needs in the individual's health / illness process.
3 - Distinguish nursing phenomena related to functions: nutrition; digestion; integuments; motor activity; consciousness and sensations; sleep and rest; elimination; hygiene and comfort.
4 - Prepare diagnostic judgments from data collected, implement nursing interventions appropriate to the clinical condition of the person; evaluate the results of his/her action.
5 - Develop cognitive, technical, and relational skills specific to the therapeutic regimen.

Syllabus:

1 - Principles of physical examination: inspection, palpation, percussion, auscultation, smell.
2 - Assessment of vital parameters: temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure.
3 - Security, social, esteem and self-fulfilment needs.
4 - Basic techniques and procedures of nursing phenomena in the field of physiological needs: nutrition and digestion; integuments; motor activity; sensations (awareness and pain); sleep and rest; hygiene and Comfort.
5 - General principles of the organization, preparation and safe administration of medicinal products by different routes of administration.
5.1 - Medication administration: peripheral, central and epidural venous cateter.
5.2 - Information media and drug distribution systems.
5.3 - General considerations on medicinal products: preservation, reconstitution, dilution, administration, interactions and incompatibilities.
5.4 - Prevention of infections associated with therapy.
5.5 - Documentation and records.
6 - Taxonomy in Nursing.

Classification Type: Quantitativa (0-20)

Evaluation Methodology:
The expository and demonstrative methodologies will be used with the active participation of the students, both in the discussion of the subjects covered during the lectures and in the scope of their autonomous work. Bibliographic research and document analysis. Resource for training techniques through simulation. Discussion of cases in the classroom. Assessment according to model B of the UMa apprenticeship evaluation regulation, namely in the normal period: 1 attendance (50%), 1 practical test (25%) and 1 group work with oral presentation (25%). The approval of the curricular unit implies approval in all components (minimum 9.5 values) and requires attendance in 75% of the hours. There is recovery at appeal/ improvement or special season. The final classification is expressed in the scale of 0 to 20 values and is the responsibility of the teacher.
