Overall objectives:

A - Provide students with knowledge about the history of civil engineering, including major works in Portugal and in the world, and antecipate the future of the profession.
B - To professionally frame the activity of civil engineering and civil construction, and the relationship with other professionals of the sector.
C - To develop in students a critical, ethical and respectful attitude for the environment.
D - To enable students with basic knowledge to understand the operation, design and construction of the main types of existing works.
E - Provide students with technical vocabulary.
F - Show tol the students the main actions used in the design.

Assesssment methods and criteria:

Classification Type: Quantitativa (0-20)

Evaluation Methodology:
Teaching method: Theoretical classes: expositive and participative lectures. Theoretical-practical classes: solving simple problems. Study visits to the emblematic works. Assistance to students to clarify doubts and to support the practical work. Evaluation method: Distributed evaluation with: 2 Tests (40% each) and 1 Practical Work (20%).
