Overall objectives:

0 - This curricular unit has as general objective to provide a formation in History and founding concepts of the Psychology, intending that the students:
1 - Know the origins of Psychology and its history and evolution as a science;
2 - Characterize the main historical systems, authors and schools associated w ith them, as well as their historical and cultural background;
3 - Know the concepts , methods and epistemological perspectives important in science and psychology;
4 - Define Psychology as a science, describing its object, methods, and scientific domains;
5 - To develop scientific research, revision and reading skills in the area of Psychology;
6 - Develop an integrative and reflective view on Psychology.

Assesssment methods and criteria:

Classification Type: Quantitativa (0-20)

Evaluation Methodology:
Teaching methodologies include (i) the presentation of the content by the teacher, using audiovisual resources, (ii) active methods that will be used to carry out activities for the application, integration and reflection of contents (eg reading and analysis of texts, discussions in large and small group, and exercises), (iii) accompanied by the interrogative method. The autonomous work of the students will be promoted, namely the research, revision and bibliographical reading either from the proposed literature or from information collected autonomously in scientific databases. The evaluation includes the following evaluation elements, with the respective weights in the calculation of the final mark: - 1 tes t (50% ); - 1 group work (50% ) with oral and written presentation.
