Basic Cycle of the Integrated Master’s degree in Medicine

The first four semesters of the Basic Cycle of the master's Degree in Medicine are based on the interinstitutional cooperation between the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FMUL) and the University of Madeira (UMa). This partnership aims at not only providing access to an increased number of native students from Madeira Archipelago, that have the required academic qualifications for medical learning, but also at obtaining a postgraduate collaboration.
Obtaining a master's degree in Medicine presupposes the successful completion of 6 years (12 semesters) of studies. Currently, the first 4 semesters are taught at UMa. Then, students are transferred to the FMUL as soon as they have the needed requirements to enter the 3rd year of the curriculum, where the degree will be completed.
This degree's curriculum is based on an educational model that fosters the learning of biomedical sciences, while developing practical skills. It favours pedagogical fields of knowledge integration, with programs focused on students, which increases their own individual commitment and creativity.
Admission to this course implies the mandatory fulfilment of the prerequisite of "Group A - Interpersonal Comunication".
