Overall objectives:

1 - Understanding basic investment concepts
2 - Using quantitative methods to address financial problems
3 - Acquiring basic knowledge of using spreadsheets as investment analysis tools
4 - Promoting writing and structuring rules of academic documents

Syllabus:

1 - Introduction: Managing the resource allocation process.
2 - Project appraisal methodology: required elements, project cycle and feasibility.
3 - Projects appraisal criteria: cash-flow calculation, cost of capital and investment criteria.
4 - Selection of investment projects: different maturity and incomplete alternatives and capital rationing.
5 - Appraisal under non-deterministic conditions: Risk, uncertainty and sensitivity analyses.
