Master’s Degree in Nursing Studies

The master’s degree in Nursing Studies aims at training nurses to contribute to research, teaching, management and development of the discipline.
It prepares students for the thought and innovation in Nursing by planning and developing ways of intervention and investigation, whether it is clinical, individual or in groups, in a multidisciplinary and intersectoral manner.
This degree fosters the increment of theoretical, historical and epistemological knowledge, and it develops scientific skills based on research, nursing problem-solving and on health quality management processes, through an interface with clinical research in nursing and conceptual research for the disciplinary and professional construction.
Candidates have a high value opportunity to ensure the acquisition and deepening of scientific knowledge, through academic expertise, research and innovation activities, or through the deepening of professional skills, aimed at the understanding and solving of problems in broad and multidisciplinary contexts, providing a solid cultural and technical background and a high-quality lifelong learning.

Career Opportunities and Employability

The Master’s degree in Nursing Studies allows the development, integration and sedimentation of the ongoing professional careers, of liberal professional practice, or professional practice in public or private institutions. This integration extends to the national and international level, namely: General hospitals, Specialised Hospitals, Health Centres, Superior Schools, Nursing Clinics or Companies.

Candidates

This degree is specially designed for the holders of an Undergraduate degree in Nursing. Candidates may apply if holders of an undergraduate degree or legal equivalent, holders of an international higher academic degree, recognized as meeting the objectives of an Undergraduate degree, holders of school, scientific or professional curriculum recognized by head of this cycle of studies, attesting to the ability to the conclusion of the degree.
