Overall objectives:

1 Display the knowledge and capability required for independent work in the area of Cultural, Literary and Intercultural Studies.

2 Develop in-depth knowledge of the major subject/field of study, including deeper insight into current research and development work.

3 Have a deeper knowledge of methods in the major subject/field of study.

4 Increase the capability to contribute to research and development work.

5 Be able to view critically, independently and creatively identify, formulate and deal with complex issues.

6 Display capability to clearly present and discuss the conclusions as well as the knowledge and arguments that form the basis for these findings.

7 Identify the issues that must be addressed within the framework of the specific thesis.

8 Have a consciousness of the ethical aspects of research and development work.
