Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering

The cycle of studies of the Doctorate degree in Electrotechnical engineering is comprised of 6 semesters (3 academic years), and includes the attainment of 180 ECTS. This degree’s programme main goal is to contribute to the training of highly qualified researchers that are equipped with the competencies needed to carry out research projects in an autonomous manner, both in academic settings and in other activity sectors (such as the business sector). This degree’s main objective is to promote the acquisition of knowledge and of high degree expertise in the main fields of Electrotechnical Engineering, such as: Automation, Electronics, Energy, Instrumentation and Telecommunications. The doctorate degree in Electrotechnical Engineering includes the production of an original research thesis.
This degree has been recognized by order of the Secretary of State for Education and School Administration on the 8th of June of 2012, for the purposes of career progression of teaching staff group number 540 of basic education, 3rd cycle and secondary education, within the terms of the article 54 of the Statute of the Teaching Career.

Graduates will be able to: collaborate in companies with lack of advanced skills in Electrotechnical Engineering in the fields of Automation, Electronics, Energy, Instrumentation and Telecommunications; to carry out functions related to research and teaching in higher education institutions; to carry out roles related to research within institutes and research centres; to create self-employment with special emphasis on innovation.

Candidates may apply if holders of a master’s degree of legal equivalent; holders of an undergraduate degree, or holders of a relevant academic and scientific curriculum that has been recognized by the members of the Scientific Council, attesting to the ability to the conclusion of the degree.
