Doctorate Degree in Insular Literatures and Cultures

This is an inter-university PHD, based on an agreement between three insular universities, namely University of the Azores, University of Madeira, University of Corsica, and a central higher education institution, the INALCO. It is signed by those representing these four institutions of higher education, attributing the PHD degree.
In the University of Corsica, the course integrates the Doctoral School, which has a long tradition of studying the insular heritage. In INALCO, the course belongs to the Doctoral School, to which the teaching staff, with an important scientific research on the field of insular studies, also belongs.
The course does not have a curricular component. However, students must commit to a training plan proposed by the student thesis’ supervisor and approved by the PhD committee, which includes activities that function as an introduction to scientific research, such as participating in conferences and preparing scientific articles.
Students will be encouraged to work, for a minimum period of one month, in one of the other higher education institutions that attribute the degree, according to a work plan previously agreed with their thesis supervisors.
