Overall objectives:

1 - To acquire transversal knowledge on planning and construction of buildings.
2 - To know materials and systems for the study of integrated constructive and energetic solutions.
3 - To acquire knowledge about the applicable regulation.
4 - To acquire knowledge about internal networks of buildings.

Syllabus:

1 - Functional requirements and building quality rules.
2 - Building thermic: heat transfer; thermal balance; methods for estimating energy needs.
3 - Introduction to the SCE, REH and RECS.
4 - Evaluation of constructive solutions in accordance with the regulations.
5 - Humidity in buildings: types, causes and effects.
6 - Ventilation of buildings: natural ventilation; forced ventilation; air quality.
7 - Acoustics of buildings: sources of noise; propagation and measurement of sound; sound isolation to aerial and percussion noises; noise regulation.
8 - Natural lighting: light physics and fundamental magnitudes; light sources; daylight factor.
9 - Networks in buildings: water supply; drainage of sewage; gas; introduction to sizing and execution.

Evaluation Methodology: Three tests in order to assess theoretical-practical and pratical knowledge. This way the student can, over half, evaluate its performance and change strategies as needed. Recover and Special Seasons: final exam that covers various topics of the course.
