Overall objectives:

1 - Encourage and support in the accomplishment of the BADL and IADL;
2 - Know basic safety procedures, encouraging the person/family to adopt them;
3 - Encourage socialization and occupation;
4 - Guide for seeking help from a skilled professional;
5 - Prevent dependency and promote autonomy;
6 - Know the procedural principles of the various care to the person/family, contemplated in their functions, in the area of hygiene and comfort; feeding and hydration and bladder and intestinal elimination;
7 - Implement safe procedures for the professional and the user in its duties;
8 - Relate its professional performance with the theoretical foundation in the areas of anatomy and physiology;
9 - Understand the relationship between its performance and the quality of care provided to the user.

Syllabus:

1 - Planning of services and care for the person;
2 - Care of: hygiene and comfort; food and hydration; bladder and intestinal elimination; transfer and positioning of the user;
3 - Ergonomic Principles.

Evaluation Methodology:
Classification Type: Quantitative (0-20) Evaluation according to model B of the UMa learning assessment regulation, notably in normal season: 1 frequency (40%), 1 group work (30%) and an individual practical test (30%). The approval of the curricular unit implies approval in all components (minimum 9.5 values). There is a possibility of recovery at a time of resource/improvement or special. The final classification is expressed on the scale of 0 to 20 values and is the responsibility of the teacher.
