Overall objectives:

1 - Understand the emergence of the Renaissance in Portugal, recognizing its main protagonists and literary trends.
2 - Develop knowledge of the lyricism of António Ferreira, the influence of Horatian poetics, and the affirmation of national identity.
3 - Analyze the introduction of Italian culture by Sá de Miranda, exploring the dolce stil nuovo
3.1 - Recognize the stoic ideal, and social critique.
4 - Identify the origins and forms of dialogue in Portuguese literature, with particular focus on A Imagem da Vida Cristã by Friar Heitor Pinto.
4.1 - Consolidate analytical, comparative, and communicative skills in the study of key texts and themes from 16th-century Portuguese literature.

Classification Type: Quantitativa (0-20)

Evaluation Methodology:
Teaching combines lectures with close reading and critical analysis of Portuguese Renaissance texts, encouraging debate and historical-literary contextualization. Students are expected to participate actively, supported by audiovisual and digital resources. Formative assessment is based on attendance and oral participation. Summative assessment includes two written tests (40% each), designed to evaluate knowledge acquisition, textual interpretation, and critical thinking, and class participation (20%), which reflects consistent and thoughtful engagement throughout the semester
