Biographical Notes

Helena Tomás graduated in Chemical Engineering/Biotechnology (IST, Lisbon, Portugal) and has a PhD degree in Technological Chemistry/Biomaterials (1996, University of Lisbon, Portugal). Currently, she is associate professor at the University of Madeira (Portugal) where she is the Coordinator of the Chemistry Department in the Faculty of Exact Sciences and Engineering and Diretor of the Materials Research Group at CQM-Centro de Química da Madeira. She authored/co-authored 63 papers and 3 book chapters (h index= 27, total citations:3060, average citations per article: 44). Her current research work is mainly devoted to the development of nanogels, clay-based and dendrimer-based nanomaterials for biomedical applications (drug/gene delivery, theranostics and tissue regeneration).
