Biographical Notes

João Rodrigues is a Full Professor at the UMa/University of Madeira (Madeira Islands/Portugal), where he is responsible for inorganic/organometallic chemistry, nanochemistry, and nanomaterials. He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry/Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Lisbon (Portugal) in 1999, with a thesis project titled "Synthesis of new organometallic materials with non-linear optical properties".

João Rodrigues is the Director of CQM-Centro de Química da Madeira/Madeira Chemistry Research Centre (National Research Laboratory, FCT/UID674), University of Madeira, Madeira Island, Portugal. From 2017 to 2020, he served as a Visiting Professor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering/Center for Nano Energy Materials, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi'an, China. During this period, he was also a member of the Scientific Board of Exact Sciences and Engineering for the Portuguese National Science Foundation (FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia). In June 2018, he integrated the Steering Committee of the Portugal-China Joint Innovation Centre for Advanced Materials (PCJICAM). In the same year, in August, he was invited as a Member of the international board of 111 Project - Advanced Manufacturing Technology and Scientific Innovation for Fiber Materials, from the State Key Laboratory for Modification of Chemical Fibers and Polymer Materials (SKLFPM), Donghua University, Shanghai, China.

He is the principal investigator or a member of several national and international research projects and scientific networks. He has authored over 125 peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals, mainly from Q1 (h-index = 42, i10-index = 93). He has also written 6 book chapters and 19 proceeding papers.
