The Centre of Applied Economic Studies of the Atlantic is an FCT research centre which brings together researchers from several departments of the University of The Azores (DEG) and the University of Madeira (DGE). The research areas are diverse and are according to its members areas of qualification and interests. The two broader areas of research are within the scope of the area of economics and management.
Within the scope of management the emerging areas of research are marketing, finance, production and operations and entrepreneurship.
In the area of economics, the work developed is centred around labour economics. Research has been carried out in several areas including the public sector of economics, economics of tourism, economic modelling, transport economy and public policies.
