Overall objectives:

1 - Understand the history basis of Neuropsychology.
2 - To know and analyse the different areas of brain ev aluation/intervention in Neuropsychology.
3 - Understanding the Functional Organization of the Brain: Different Functions - different behaviours.
4 - Deepen the concepts of Neuropsychology in the context of the century XXI: Virtual reality and Neu ropsychology.
5 - Identify the main neuropsychological assessment/neuropsychological areas.
6 - Distinguish different neuropsychological functions and prefrontal areas in human behaviour.
7 - Acquire and exercise regular research skills of the most relevant research at national and in ternational level, within the scope of Neuropsychology.

Syllabus:

1 - Basic authors of Neuropsychology: Egas Moniz, António Damásio, João Lobo Antunes, José Cardoso Pires, Óscar Gonçalves, Leonard Diller, Wayne A. Gordon, Oliver Sacks.
2 - Functional description of the frontal lobe, parietal, temporal, occipital, cerebellum.
3 - primary motor cortex (voluntary movements); Secondary motor cortex (organization n of movements); Integrative prefrontal cortex (planning, forecasting and decision making); Broca's area (speech articulation); Primary auditory cortex (auditory sensation); Secondary auditory cortex (association and interpretation of sounds); Primary somatosensory cortex (sensation of touch, pain, temperature and proprioception); Secondary somatosensory cortex (integration of tactile or somatic sensory information);
4 - Neurological diseases: stroke; Multiple Sclerosis); Alzheimer's disease; Epilepsy Secondary visual cortex (high visual processing); Primary visual cortex (visual sensation); Wernick area (understanding of language).

Classification Type: Quantitativa (0-20)

Evaluation Methodology:
We will make use of expository and expository/interrogative methodologies and some active methodologies. Assessment: 1 test (50%), where the ability to integrate content, theoretical rigor and critical reflection will be evaluated. It will include practical work (50%), to deepen different perspectives on a theme. In addition to making a presentation to the class, they should be able, with supervision, to prepare a theoretical-practical work, scientifically based. For attendance there is a minimum of 75% of attendance. The evaluation is in accordance with the directions indicated by the Bologna Process for the evaluation and accreditation (Decree-Law no. 42/2005). It aims, therefore, to be global, considering the work of the student as a whole and covering facets such as research work, individual study, oral presentation of the work carried out and participation inside and outside the classroom and evaluation of a written test and an oral presentation.
